Research

My contributions to the scientific community revolve around nectar production. In the genus Penstemon, the nectary tissue (patch of modified trichomes) are located at the base of a stamen. Based on what type of pollinator the plant species mainly attracts, bees or hummingbirds, the volume of nectar is different. I am seeking to understand the developmental and genetic differences in the nectary between these two pollinator-adaptations.
